This workbook is an introduction to the idea of magical viewing - or looking at films as portals to deeper understanding of ourselves and each other. The Cinematic Grimoire discusses my idea of Cinemancy or the magic of movies, it helps viewers to analyze films from the perspective of symbolism, psychology, archetypes, and self reflection to gain a deeper appreciation for the art form. Magical Viewing helps us to not only see movies in a more intimate way, but also understand things like gender, race, sexuality, and politics, more critically.
The book features lessons, journal questions, a tarot spread, 4 movie breakdowns, and a sample film journal page.
