The Elephant Man

John Merrick, a man with a range of disfigurements due to a rare congenital disorder, is exploited by traveling sideshows and treated as a freak. He is mistreated and dehumanized until a caring surgeon discovers him and takes him in. Soon, John is the toast of London, developing a strong sense of dignity and self-respect.
